Dear Members

As the demand for boy and girls are on increase, now it has been decided to proceed with next event of Vivaha Sanghamam at Madurai, which has a high potential of Boys and Girls from southern districts of Tamilnadu....

My chat friend Ms. Karthiga who is to be engaged this month end (a Non-brahmin girl), and has their own Kalyana Mandapam and has offerred to give on a minimum rental, even though they charge high, as it is being located on the heart of the city.....

The tentative date of the Vivaha Sanghama at Madurai will be March-13, 2011 (Sunday).....and I have requested my friend Ms.Karthiga to block the date for our Vivaha Sanghamam Program....

I request Trustees and Volunteers to give a thought on the above and tell me positively, whether we shall proceed with the Vivaha Sanghamam at Madurai on the above said date and the Kalyana mandapam fixed accordingly......

I request Mr. RVR, Mr. Sabesan Narayanaswami and Mr. Chandru to shed their views and find a local organisor at Madurai, so that we can proceed accordingly.....(I remember Mr. RVR has somewhere mentioned that one member of our forum was interested to conduct a program at Madurai).. Hopefully he may be contacted to be local organisor at Madurai.....

The details of the program shall be announced formally, once these are provisionally accepted by all..

On this juncture, May i request all members that profile registration shall be made online in advance, so that no mistakes in the profile entry are made...

Your comments please Smile

Thanks and regards....

Shri Sharma,

We can conduct Vivahasangamam at Madurai which is long overdue.

Based on our experience at Chennai and Bangalore, I would like to express my views as below.

While we can continue to conduct Vivahasangamams regularly, we have to ensure that they are all of self financing nature. We don't want to make profit out of the event but at the same time, the trust cannot afford deficit on these events. Spot collections by way of donations both at Chennai and Bangalore were not sufficient to meet the expenditure of the events. We have managed the whole show by going in for sponsorships and covered the deficits.

Earlier we decided that we will not fix any fee for our events and expected that donations at the spot will be sufficient for the expenses. Now we have to decide how to go about it in the future. The local organisers have to commit that they will manage the funding themselves. Unfortunately we don't have a local team at Madurai as off now.

Please put a budget for the event in this thread itself and we shall get opinion from all our members as to how to go about it.

It is my personal view that the trust should mobilize funds mostly for educating poor students of our community, emergency Medicare etc. Vivahasangamam and other activities have to be conducted on self financing basis and we should not go after sponsorships.

I wish other members also express their views on this.

All the best

Sir,

Why not we fix a minimum charge and meet out the expenditure out of the collection... as we made in the past....

Will it not be a self sufficient to meet out the expenditure ??

Just a thought....Let others too decide.... cheers

We certainly need to augment our resources for our other welfare activities.Fixing a registration of Rs 100 as done earlier may be okay in my opinion.may be at a later date when we are financially comfortable we can waive this too.We can even offer at a nominal cost the printed lists for those who need. While donations from large firms and Instituitions will take care for other activities the registration fee will make the events self sufficient.

Dear All

I fear there will be little response from others from this forum to this discussion since it involves a policy. I am frank & Upright to say this from my experience in public activity involving money. Some of the good people pardon me since I had generalised my statement.

Paid registration is an easy way and we deviate from the original concept. If we need time to get organised we will do Madurai after couple of weeks.

From my point of view, I feel we have enough time to get people from Madurai to involve into this.

I veto and stand by the concept of "FREE' VIVAHA SANGAMAM and not for a paid one.

Vivaha Sangamam earlier had been paid one, we all grouped to gather to do it free, we should do it free. May be we might have lost, deviated, but we should not lose our confidence.

We need to regroup, find right persons through the group members of this forum, whom are capable and are willing to work for the community cause.

I commit that I could do maximum Vilambaram through the Sree Sankara Channel, Dinamalar and local cable network in Madurai. Let me see whether
I could get some sponsorship there in Madurai.

Ramani Sir, I presume we might have to have a Budget of 25 to 30 K for this event.

Please do not get disheartened or come into conclusion, I say we could do it free if all of us are together. Doesn't we have the capability collectively? yes we do have, we could, we will, we should.

I fully appreciate your feelings Sri Roamer.

We are not doing a commercial activity and we are doing a service to our community. I wish the community understands our position and reciprocates accordingly. I earnestly feel that each participant should donate at-least Rs.100 voluntarily without our asking. We have to cover rent for the venue, our astrologers travel, rent of chairs/mike etc, food and other expenses which will easily come to about 25000 to 30,000 per event. If the participation is around 250 to 300, each participant has to donate at-least Rs.100 so that the expenses are fully met.

In Chennai around 540 people participated and at Bangalore around 300 people participated. Total spot collections for both the events put together was around 25000 Rs only which put lot of pressure on the organizers.

While I fully support your view to continue the event without fixing any fee, I wish the participants voluntarily pay Rs.100. We can graciously exempt even this small contribution for the poor among our community.

All the best

Nothing wrong in collecting a token sum of Rs.100 per person who wants to participate (boy/girl) in the programme.

Similarly, if some sponsors come forward without putting some delicate or hard conditions, they may be accepted without any reservations.

Some sponsors want to put stalls in the venue.

Some want to distribute their products at a subsidised cost to the participants.

Some want greater publicity to their company and products.

Some may want to appear the dais in the lunch recess or at the beginning or end of the show, to introduce themselves.

Some want to distribute leaflets to all.

Some want some firm commitment from the organisers that they (sponsor companies) will be called next time also.

Some companies may do something which may be against the spirit of the programme or the brahmin community itself.

These are some of my apprehensions.

Since In Madurai we do not have a foot hold as well as local volunteer, the task is much tougher. Hence I also come in line with all of you to charge RS.100.00 per registration.

We lived in Madurai until 1987. Even though I lost touch with the city, I still have some friends who may opt to help.

Please tell me in what areas you require help.

If you split major tasks into smaller ones, I think I can offer some help.

Dear Sir / Members

Charging of RS 100/- is answerable to the public those who are registered their horscope.

If the regn.fee is absolutely free then only the boy/girls hv to register for the event.

We have to nominate 1 R 2 people(members) to visit Madurai and finanlise the date.

One thing is highly potention for our forum is PUBLICIIITY and we have to do through DINAMALAR / SANKARA Channel.

Plz consider TIRUNELVELI is other opion for this event in Mar / April 10
This is my personal view.

Hope we will the make EVENT as sucess in IXM/TNL.

With kind regards.

dear moderators and organisors sir...
my one suggestion please sir...
dont do the service free, which my opinion not good sir.
you can charge as donation Rs.100/- for one registration
so that if you have any excess amount can use for trust
other activity also. this 100 rupees is a must as donation for
the trust and this amount can be used for hall rent, food, chart
etc. and garland, compliments etc. also.
if am wrong and feel adigaprasangi. am sorry sir..
thanking you sir, sindu17

To all,

Can we make a request to all affordable participants for a donation of a minimum sum of Rs.100. We can exempt poor people from this donation.

All the best

Sri Ganpat Sir,

Today 100 Rs is not a big money. Most of the brahmins can afford this money.

Please suggest some guidelines which the local organizers can follow for exemption cases - Like their life style, living conditions, employment details of parents/wards, education etc.

All the best
